MMSC24

I used this challenge to make a birthday card for my daughter. The original post which I hope made the deadline is the photo below. I took a better photo later and posted it up above so that you could see better the coloring I did with Prismas and Copics.

Queen Kat Designs Royal Monday Blog Hop

No, you didn't sleep through Monday and Tuesday! I normally do the QKD blog hop on Wednesday
.......BUT....... We're really rockin' at QKD, to the point that we now have TWO, yes--count 'em--TWO royal blog hops EACH and EVERY WEEK for you, starting today. As you can see, I've moved over to Mondays. (But don't forget to continue blog hopping on Wednesdays with the other Royal Stamping Maids.) If you hopped on board here, please click on QKD to start at the beginning of the official blog and work your way back. I wouldn't want you to miss any of the great stamping creations made for today. If you've been following the blog hop, you came from my new blogging buddy, Kelly.

Today's team challenge is a photo inspiration: I immediately was drawn to the turquoise color and the fall items. Here's my take on it:

How I made it: turquoise cardstock run through the Cuttlebug using the Forest Branches embossing folder; QKD Stumpy stamped once, scanned and flipped through the computer and printed so that I had two Stumpies, one the mirror image of the other; Fall Clothesline rub on transfer from Provo Craft First Impressions (previously available from the QKD store--my motto: get what you want before it's gone), sentiment from QKD Give Thanks set and various ric rac acquired at auctions. (If you click on either of my photos, you will get a bigger image, all the better to see the beautiful detail in the tree stump stamp, tree branches background, and clothesline items. If you click on the QKD stamp words, you will magically be transported to their spot in the QKD store.) I am very thankful for this beautiful autumn weather today, the gorgeous colors of the leaves on the trees, and the fall havest.
Next up is my Stampin' Saturday partner, Penny.
Don't forget to end your hop at the QKD store to see what Queen Kat has going on there: stamps, kits, product, and bundle specials!!!!

Queen Kat Designs Royal Wednesday Blog Hop

Today the QKD Design team has a color challenge: orange, purple, white, and black. The team has made some fantastic projects for you! So if you started with me, please click your mouse on QKD blog to start at the very beginning of the blog hop. I wouldn't want you to miss a thing! If you came from awesome AlienAnessa's blog, then you're on the right track. Next up is my other blog buddy, Nina.
I couldn't resist making my own little "purple people eater" (subject of a novelty song by Sheb Wooley--yes, I'm old enough to have been singing that song back in 1958--but I probably better remember the Ray Stevens' version). This QKD monster would rather hug purple people than eat them!
Huggy the Monster is all dressed up for Halloween, wearing his top hat from the Moving Game set. (Silly monster--he thinks nobody will recognize him under this little hat!)

Be sure to check out the Queen Kat Designs Store where Queen Kat is offering 55% off of all clearance items and 30% off of these stamps:

Special QKD Welcome to Designer Melia Newman

I am so pleased to be one of the QKD Royal Stamping Maids introducing the QKD stamp Thanksgiving Dragons designed by Melia Newman. As soon as I saw this design, I knew it would be a perfect match for this week's card sketch challenge #23 at Priscillastyles' Midnight Madness site. That's why you see both the QKD and the MM badges at the top of my post.

I loved working with the Dragon stamp! I used several Copics and Prismacolors for highlighting and contrasting. I double stamped the cornucopia and triple stamped the pumpkin, then cut out and layered the extras for lots of dimension. I only glued the dragons from the arms down and put pop dots behind their faces so that they looked more 3-dimensional. Spellbinders' Nestabilities Die Cut Labels and a Cuttlebug embossing folder design provide the frame for my Dragon couple.

I decided to get really creative with the sketch and interpret the 3 panels as Ms. Dragon's feathers. A gal can never have too many feathers to dress up her headband--especially for the upcoming holiday season! Each panel is sporting a different design made with Cuttlebug embossing folders and different loopy trim to mimic feathers.
I have to confess that I felt seven-years-old again, coloring and cutting out the paper doll and her outfits that came in the comics section of the Sunday paper. Because the distressed background pattern paper had a title across the top, I altered the sketch a little by rotating the felt ribbon and putting it across the bottom of the card to anchor everything.

The two stamps that we are releasing today are on sale for 30% off as well as the two alphabet stamps that Queen Kat used on the card for the QKD blog today (if you didn't start there, please click on the purple words to see her fabulous card). This sale will last through Sunday. To get to the sale, please click on the words Queen Kat Designs Store to get in on the sale.

Please come over and join our YAHOO GROUP at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/qkdstampco/ This is our new newsletter group. If you'd like to get the awesome sale info first, come and join our group.

Here's the complete list for today's special blog hop welcoming Melia. Please take a look at what The QKD Royal Stamping Maids created with her designs. Next up is Lara.

Saturday and Sunday Scrappin'

I've been working on my projects for the Coordinates Collections October Crop. The theme is books. Kind of a nice change of pace. Here's the first thing I made, a card, to qualify for a door prize drawing, based on one of the six challenges. So I chose the book quotation challenge since I just happened to have this rubber stamp with an Emerson quote. I stamped it on vellum and used Kaiser brown pearls to hide the glue. I stamped and paper pieced the butterfly, so I added some wire antennae. I also tried some Ranger Rock Candy Stickles on the butterfly for sparkle. Back to the scrap table for me.
I FINALLY got a layout done. This is Challenge #2: Cover Inspiration. I was inspired by the colors in the book cover we were asked to use: mostly black, with white, green, pink, and yellow.

Queen Kat Designs Royal Wednesday Blog Hop

Today we have a sketch challenge. The team has made some fantastic projects for you! So if you started with me, please click your mouse on QKD blog to start at the very beginning of the blog hop. I wouldn't want you to miss a thing! If you came from awesome AlienAnessa's blog, then you're on the right track. And next up is my other blog buddy, Nina. (Rule: Never venture into cyberspace without your blog buddies.)
I used the October release Moving Game stamp set to complete my sketch challenge. The word background stamp is perfect for the two panels. I used a scallop punch for the circle and added the Home (word) and house (shape) stamps, from the same set. Tim Holtz idea-ology harlequin elements, a little ribbon and bling complete the look.

And here's the complete blog hop list, should you need to find your way in cyberspace. Thanks for visiting today! Be sure to stop in the store when you get to the end of the blog!

BLOG HOP

If you're a follower of my blog, then you know that in recent weeks I've become a Midnight Madness participant. I even won a ribbon box from priscillastyles, who hosts the weekly card sketch challenge. So I can't wait for this weekend's blog hop challenges. I hope you'll join me. In the meantime, I hope you check out the site and maybe even try this week's sketch.

MMSC#22, BRAG Monday and QKD = One Vintage Halloween Card

I used the Midnight Madness sketch challenge #22, the Old Photo-Witchy Woman freebie graphic from the Graphics Fairy, and the QKD Fantasy Witch's Hat stamp to create this card. Since I can't sew, I put some interesting trim around the photo for the stitch effect. I stamped the hat onto the photo, outlined it with a Sakura black glaze pen, and added black Stickles and a silver satin puffy star. Isn't it great how the QKD hat looks like part of the original photo? The spider patterned paper and tag are My Mind's Eye, from a collection my daughters recently gave me. Sweetwater makes the October month paper. The other papers from my stash, along with the cat rub-on, shall remain nameless as I have long since lost the info. I recently purchased some puffy satin bat ribbon and cut off two bats for embellies. An amber gem completes the sketch layout. I really like that I was able to create a Halloween card without using traditional bright orange.
SPECIAL NOTE: Thanks to Pricillastyles, home of Midnight Madness, where I won the ribbon box and was one of 10 finalists for the ginormous grand prize--a Workbox from the Original Scrapbox. Although I didn't win the big prize, it still was fun salivating for a while over the thought of having that workspace in my craft room.

QKD Royal Blog Hop and October Designs

You know what Wednesday means: time for another blog hop by the Design Team. And since it's the first Wednesday of the month, it also means it's time for the big reveal of QKD's October stamp releases. I had lots of fun working with Moving Game. Here is my card for this release. I stamped the word background twice, side-by-side, for a longer card.

Here's a close-up of four of the individual stamps from this set. From left to right, you're viewing a house covered with green Perfect Pearls, a red flocked car, a shoe cut from patterned paper, and a top hat covered with black Stickles.
The team has made some fantastic projects for you! So if you started with me, please click your mouse on the QKD blog to start at the very beginning of the blog hop.
